What We Do

We provide live sound engineering and reinforcement services for musicians and bands in small- to moderate-sized venues.

Being Loud ≠ Being Heard

Artists that have earned the privilege of performing live reached that milestone by putting a lot of time, effort, sweat, and even tears into crafting their sound — it’s not about being loud or hitting all the right notes, but about projecting your image and being heard exactly as you intended.

When it comes to being heard, there’s more to it than just microphones and a stack of speakers. You need an experienced sound engineer who appreciates music in all forms, and who will strive to produce your sound in a way that will connect with your audience, keep them engaged, and more importantly: remember you.

My name is Matthew, and I’m the owner of Hometown Sound and your personal, one-on-one sound engineer. As a lifelong music lover (and musician, myself!), I bring passion, professionalism, reliability, and thoughtful, hands-on expertise to every performance. When you hire Hometown Sound, you’re working directly with me — from load-in, setup, operation, to tear-down.

For Artists

Bring your best performance — I’ll handle your sound. As a musician myself, I know that it doesn’t matter how clean, dynamic, and impactful your performance is if the sound system can’t deliver. And a sub-par sound system that’s too loud or ill-tuned can even damage your image!

  • Complete live sound production for solo performers, duos, and full bands
  • Modern, well maintained, professional grade equipment
  • A clear, balanced, and fulfilling mix that fits your genre and style
  • Individualized monitor mixes so each member hears what’s critical for their role
  • Active participation in every song to highlight solos and maintain consistent levels
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to perfection

Whether you’re playing a local bar or an outdoor event, I’ll make sure your mix is clean, your vocals sit right, and your sound fills the space without being muddy or overpowering.

For Venues

Professional sound reinforcement that helps your entertainment fill the house (and the tills!).

  • Turnkey solution for small- to mid-size venues and events (see Capabilities for details)
  • Reliable, on-time setup and tear-down
  • Respectful of your property and your rules
  • Professional equipment that’s well maintained to ensure safety
  • Careful placement of equipment and cabling for safety and a clean appearance
  • Direct coordination with artists and event staff
  • Scalable equipment for the size and acoustics of your space
  • Consistent sound quality and volume control

If your venue doesn’t have a full-time sound tech or in-house system, Hometown Sound can provide the complete package, or just augment what you already have. You get a professional setup with zero hassle, your performers can have confidence in delivering a quality show, and your patrons have a memorable experience that brings them back.

Why Choose Hometown Sound?
